Planning for fall.....

Planning for fall what? Its summer and one of the hottest days of the year here in London, Ontario. My favorite time of year is the fall and the changing of leaves the rich colours of mother nature. I had the pleasure of designing this lovely fall floral bouquet with rich reds, oranges and yellow...from roses to mums this lovely bouquet became the center of attention for this shoot. With paper flowers you don't have to worry about keeping them in water or even about them browning they truely are forever.

Lets plan for fall flowers together .... leave me a commment on what flowers are your favorite for fall.

Have a wonnderful day,
Hugs, Laura

Gathering ideas...

Good morning,

I thought I would share a little of how inspiration comes when creating for a custom bridal bouquet. One of my lovely clients sent me a piece of her wedding invitation envelop line. This has been her colour theme for the wedding....which is an amazing idea.

I collected my papers and matched the sample with my paper. Once the colours were layed out I was ready to start the process of  flowers. I or we ( bride ) decided the statement flower would be the Peony...which is done of my favorite flowers I have been designing. It has such wonderful details. The center is so much fun and lots of work but very much worth it. Once that flower was made I decided on 2 more flowers.

Here is a sneak peak of the process and I will keep updating as I go and the final bouquet.

So as a note...when you are looking at creating a custom look start with inspiration may it be a photo, fabric, scrapbook paper or your favorite pair of earring and pull your paper and flower will start to flow....

Hugs,
Laura

A little potted rose....

There are so many roses to love and today's post is all about the potted rose plant. I love the tear drop shaped petals of these potted rose. I made them for my studio and the best part is they look lovely everyday.

I went to my local dollar store and purchased a clay pot, some moss and a foam circle. I cut the circle in half and glued it in place. I added the moss to the top of the foam half circle and my potted plant was started.

Then off to my stack of papers and I decided on Tutu Pink as my rose colour. I love tutu pink....it is soft and pretty. I then cut out my roses and inked the edges for a more realistic look. Cut out several leaves and attached them to the stem of each rose. I pressed the three roses into the foam.

This potted rose is perfect for giving as a gift to a friend, host or for yourself.

Enjoy the sun.....
